چکیده

Mapping CMB polarization is an essential ingredient of current cosmological research. Particularly challenging is the measurement of an extremely weak B-mode polarization that can potentially yield unique insight on inflation. Achieving this objective requires very precise measurements of the secondary polarization components on both large and small angular scales. Scattering of the CMB in galaxy clusters induces several polarization effects whose measurements can probe cluster properties. Perhaps more important are levels of the statistical polarization signals from the population of clusters. Power spectra of five of these polarization components are calculated and compared with the primary polarization spectra. These spectra peak at multipoles l > 3000, and attain levels that are unlikely to appreciably contaminate the primordial polarization signals.

Rayleigh scattering: blue sky thinking for future CMB observations

Rayleigh scattering from neutral hydrogen during and shortly after recombination causes the CMB anisotropies to be significantly frequency dependent at high frequencies. This may be detectable with Planck, and would be a strong signal in any future space-based CMB missions. The later peak of the Rayleigh visibility compared to Thomson scattering gives an increased large-scale CMB polarization s...

The measurement of the polarization of cosmic microwave background (CMB) provides considerable useful information about different physical phenomena at the last scattering surface. The polarization of CMB is due to Compton scattering. In this work, we consider the parity violation of Compton scattering. Then we insert the new amplitude into the quantum Boltzmann equation and show that the forwa...

Cmb Polarization Due to Scattering in Clusters

Scattering of the cosmic microwave background (CMB) in clusters of galaxies polarizes the radiation. We explore several polarization components which have their origin in the kinematic quadrupole moments induced by the motion of the scattering electrons, either directed or random. Polarization levels and patterns are determined in a cluster simulated by the hydrodynamical Enzo code. We find tha...

Probing inflation with CMB polarization : weak lensing effect on the covariance of CMB spectra

CMB anisotropies are modified by the weak lensing effect of intervening large scale structures on the photon path from the last scattering surface to the observer. This has to be accounted for when observational data of sensitive experiments are used to constrain cosmological models. A common approximation to analyze the CMB angular power spectra is to include only the Gaussian part of the lens...

CMB Quadrupole induced polarisation from clusters and filaments

We present the estimates of the Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) polarisation power spectrum from galaxy clusters and filaments using hydrodynamical simulations of large scale structure formation. We focus in the present study on the CMB Quadrupole induced polari-sation, which is the dominate secondary polarisation effect, and give the E and B mode power spectra between l ∼ 560 to 20000.
